Hello. Thank you for having an interest in our project. We are raising funds to publish the football culture magazine “OFF THE BALL 01”.

　

ABOUT US OFF THE BALL is a a humane association for football culture, run by a college student Akashi Oda who is also an editor-in-chief of the culture magazine “LIKTEN”, and Tota Hasegawa, Executive Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo and a member of the creative collective Tomato in London.

　

ABOUT ‘OFF THE BALL’

Speaking of football, its main characters are unquestionably the games and players.
But, in terms of football as a culture, these are only a small fraction of it. Other football related essences such as fashion, music, food, art and literature are actually essential for football to sustain its culture. The focus of OFF THE BALL is not football as a sport, but its surroundings.

　

IN PAST

With this in mind, we created the first magazine “OFF THE BALL” (Zero Issue) with the concept of a “football magazine without football players”. In this issue, Nagai Hiroshi an illustrator known for the album cover of Eiichi Ohtaki’s “A Long Vacation” created the cover art. Other stories include a stadium gourmet guide by a food essayist Sakiko Hirano and football fashion pages with a photographer Hideki Makiguchi. In addition to the magazine, OFF THE BALL produced a t-shirt in collaboration with BEAMS, a tote bag, and a winter scarf with Tie & Scarf Company in England. After the magazine launch, Daikanyama Tsutaya held the popup-shop of OFF THE BALL for 2 weeks.

　

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

To publish more evolved “OFF THE BALL” and its new and first issue, we need your help.

Illustrator - Nobuhiko Yabuki
Nobuhiko Yabuki is known for the album cover of Happy End’s “CITY” and the jacket of Juzo Itami’s “Onna-tachi-yo! (paper book edition)” (Eng. Women!). He himself is also a football fan.

-FASHION PHOTO
Photographer – Miri Matsufuji / Asami Nobuoka
A photographer Miri Matsufuji is a member of “GOALPHINS”, a football team formed by artists and designers. In addition to Miri Matsufuji’s football fashion shooting, there will be Mami Nobuoka’s products photos with various new football items.
