Do you know about us?

Let’s bring up tiny Bobble together!  A premature orangutan who lost her mother.

We began this project as we wanted to let more people know about current wildlife through bringing up a baby orangutan named Bobble together.

It all started after JWC decided to invite Dr. Birute Galdikas the creator of Orangutan Foundation International (OFI) which is an orangutan conservation organization in Indonesia, for a lecture in October 2015.  Dr. Galdikas is a worldly renowned expert primatologist and is the pioneer for orangutan conservation.  At OFI many orphaned orangutans are rescued after losing their habitat from forest destruction.

The cause of forest destruction is mainly from creating palm plantation for palm oil. Palm oil is used for chocolates, potato chips and other processed food, and also for cosmetics and soap, etc…

Japan has ranked 15th place as the country which most imports palm oil.

JWC was figuring out a way to cooperate with everyone to help support OFI when a baby orangutan named Bobble was rescued.

Bobble’s mother was killed but Bobble was rescued after being sold as a pet.

As she hadn’t been fed properly, she was the size of orangutan which was a few months old, though she was about 2 and a half years old.

We found out that the cost to feed and care for Bobble per day is about $8.30.

We thought this is an amount we all can help with.

Thus the project began!

The fund raised through this project will be handed to Dr. Galdikas in person when she comes to Tokyo in October.

Through funding, you will receive a letter from Bobble with some photos.

We hope to tell you more about how Bobble strives so she can return home.

Please join us in rearing Bobble so that she can return to the forest.
